Ipod clones running a muck on ebay.

Have you ever bid on an ipod, and when you get it, it turns out to be a fake? What gave it away? The cheap design or the loading screen? Here are 6 things to look out for when bidding on ebay.

1 - Watch out for Engrish! No not English, but Engrish. If the person is living in hong kong, or China, and is saying it a genuin ipod, you might want to double check. One is by emailing him, and tell him to send you a picture of the actual thing you are bidding on. If he or she declines then move on to a different auction!

2 - Look for the word "ipod" usually now days when they are posting the fake ipods, they say " Oem mp4 player". Not ipod so look out for that!

3 - abnormal features! If the guy says its an Ipod shuffle, and he also says it has a camera on it then it is probably not an ipod! There are ipod shuffles clones with a built in camera, and sd card slot (lol). So watch out for that! I know ipod nanos have cameras, so another thing to watch out for is the buttons on the ipod. A normal Ipod has these buttons. Also the fake ipod touch has a button that is a rectangle, not a circle, like the real one.

A fake Ipod would have buttons like this -

4 - Screen size! if the screen is 1.5 inch Fake ipods have a screen cover that is about 1.5 inches but the actual screen size is only 1.2 - 1.3 inches.

5 - multi media player, pouch, and no original packaging "but safely wrapped around bubblewrap!"  Most of the time, fake ipod sellers have the words OEM, and multi media player in the same sentence! They always include a "free gift" pouch that says the words mp4 player, or has a Disney character on it.  Also they will say this item will not include the original  packaging to save shipping costs.

6 - Price and capacity! Since i pod clones made with cheap materials, they will have a price that is about 1/5 -  the price of a real Ipod. You can find ipod clones going for $20, while the real Ipods go for $100 -$150. Note that the $20 ipod clones are 2gb. Some will attempt to sell 8gb ones for $20. But the truth is that those 8gb players have hacked firmwares! They are really 128mbs - 2gbs. All they do is trick the ipod clone to think it is 8gbs. If you recently bought a 8gb fake ipod clone for $20 then contact the seller. He will attempt to give you a 50% refund, and say " our worker made mistake with chip." But the catch is you will have to leave a positive comment first.

If you are planning on buying a real ipod, then please do not buy it from ebay, unless you are sure it is the real deal! Always buy from people that accept returns, so if you do not like what you have bought, you can return it. But you do want a fake ipod then  here are the going prices -

Ipod shuffle clone - sd slot ( no memory ) about $6
Ipod shuffle 2gb memory clone - $12
Ipod nano - 2gb or hacked to 8gb clone - $20
Ipod touch clone - $40
Remember they can explode, and or cause damage since they are not really quality tested.
